About Riverside Paddock Camping Site, Isle of Wight.
Riverside Paddock Camping Site occupies a peaceful stunning rural location just outside of the historic town of Newport on The Isle of Wight and is located in a quiet area on the main cycle track, route 23. The camp site has an AA Three Pennant Rating, you can view a copy of the most recent AA report by clicking HERE.
Because of it's central location the campsite can quickly be reached by road from the ferries at Yarmouth, Cowes and Fishbourne and because of it's cycle track proximity you can cycle from the ferry at Cowes to the site without having to use public roads. It's an ideal starting point or overnight stop for mountain biking, walking, rambling and hiking and all other Isle of Wight towns are within easy reach including Shanklin, Sandown, Ventnor, Ryde and Freshwater. The River Medina is less than a minutes walk from the site and the main town is within walking distance as are local bus stops.
The camp site has hard standing areas for caravans and camper vans and grassed areas for tents. We are a dog friendly camp site. Facilities on site include electricity, drinking water, showers and toilets with disabled access. We are one of just a few UK campsites strictly for adults and the only one at present on the Isle of Wight.
Around the camp site you will find wooded areas, shady leafy quiet spots, open grassed areas and picnic spots with tables and chairs and a range of wildlife including our resident ducks. We are constantly working to improve the environment around the campsite and have been planting many trees, plants and shrubs and constantly strive to manage the countryside and the campsite itself to improve the experience for ourselves and our visitors.

Sorry we left without saying goodbye on Sunday. We had a lovely weekend and this was defiantly made better by being at riverside paddock. You truly have a wonderful site and the both of you are lovely people. Thank you for having us, and if we come to the I.O.W or festival in the future we will want to stay again. Take care. Thank you again for a lovely stay last week. You have created a really special place to find somewhere so quiet and relaxed in high season is a rare treat. The facilities are great and you two help make it somewhere we will always recommend. Next year...will it be the orchard or the meadow that we will most want to stay in?? Kindest regards Adrian and Andrew.
Staying here was a totally enjoyable experience, It was all made very easy and everything you need is provided…but more than this: hot luxury showers, an extremely comfortable proper mattress and even tea and coffee for us to make on the stove provided before adventuring along the nearby cycle paths to the coast. Amazing and friendly couple in a quiet idyllic spot, We would definitely come back!" Emma Gibson (Artist / Creative Researcher) & Leon Hatcher -
We recently spent 4 days at your delightful site. Just to say how much we enjoyed our stay and how well situated we found it to be, very close to Newport and amenities yet wonderfully quiet. We hope to return before too long. Dave Lawrence and Diane Birkin.

Thanks for a great value, comfy, quiet, safe and secure week. Just what we needed to blow the cobwebs away. Mike and Val Voyle.
We had planned a week of sightseeing and celebrations on the Isle of Wight over the Queens Diamond Jubilee bank holiday. Unfortunately my wife Linda was taken ill and admitted to the main hospital in Newport. I was actually camped on the other side of the Island south of Totland. I was desperate to be nearer the hospital and after a quick search on the internet found the Riverside Paddock Campsite. When I contacted the site they immediately allowed me to stay at the site despite being full for the Jubilee weekend. They were extremely caring and supportive and ensured that I had everything I needed. Everyday they checked to make sure that my wife was ok and I was also OK. The campsite is absolutely beautiful and the Barn owl flying around in the evening was stunning. Sue and Peter are very special, warm and caring people. Thank you both. Martin and Linda Spanswick.

Hello, Just wanted to say thank you for a very good stay, we thought your campsite was excellent and the shower facilities were always so clean and great to have an unlimited supply of hot water. Also thanks for charging the battery. We would definitely return and recommend you to others. Thank you Carol and Jeremy.
What an absolutely delightful site. The first time camping on the IOW & decided to base ourselves centrally. Very glad we did. The site is one of the nicest campsites we have ever used. The fact that it has only been opened a couple of years means that improvements are still under way. The layout of the site is very good & once all the newly planted trees get the chance to grow it will be even better. Right next to the Newport/Cowes cycle path. 15 minutes to the nearest dog friendly pub, the Bargemans Rest right on the river. The shower & toilet facilities are very good & clean. Dog friendly & children free site. A campsite not to be missed! Reviewer: Tom Simpson
We would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone wanting this as a base to see the Island. It is within walking distance of Newport Town Centre (via a cycle path -
We stayed here as a base for the IOW Festival and fully enjoyed the stay. The site is spotlessly clean and the owners never seem to stop cleaning and tidying! Nicely situated and very quiet (once the festival finished!) Good hot showers and free hair-
Cannot recommend this site highly enough. We booked for 5 nights as a base to explore the island before going to the IOW Festival. As it is pretty central, it is a fantastic base for day trips anywhere on the island. The owners are lovely, the showers and toilets always spotlessly clean and there is enough room for everyone to have enough space between their tents and vans. Having headed off to the festival where the organisers could only put vans on a field so muddy that we had to be towed on and off, we had no access to running water, and it took an hour to walk through the mud to get to the stages, we are so grateful to say that it only took one emergency call to Riverside Paddock and we were welcomed back to the site even though they weren't taking any more bookings. From there we could walk along the cycle path by the river to the festival-
Although approached via an industrial estate this site is very nicely located near the River Medina and on the Newport Cowes cycle path, peaceful and rural with great access to Newport. The owners are nice people who, while maintaining a high standard, don't interfere and remain completely unobtrusive. The loos and showers are cleaned constantly and one little thing you could do is leave your shoes outside to prevent grass cuttings making a mess of the floors. Great little site, we would definitely use this one again as it is also a central base for exploring the IOW. Highly recommended. Reviewer: Contactsb
The quality of this site was clear from the first contact we had on phone before arriving. A friendly customer oriented service revealed itself. The site is not to big, but it is well organised on a flat golf like grass field. Good drainage and possibility to have electricity ads to the good tent experience. Staff is helpful and glad to make recommendations. There are foot and biking paths just outside the gate. We got recommendation for a nice walk along the Medina River. During the walk we met only friendly people and had a few good conversations. The toilet, showers, and washing facilities are spotless clean. The hot water is plentiful and included. Bottom line is that we can recommend this splendid site to anyone looking for a quiet, clean, well organised, and friendly camp site! Reviewer: Reisende
